For many of us, Labor Day marks the end of summer and the beginning of fall. It would fall from the snow that one would not even be surprised. Still, it is still a few weeks before the autumn takes place. Let us hunt these sad thoughts with 10 suggestions to fill out September.
1. Relive the Expo 67
Fifty years ago, Montreal opened its doors to the world through the 1967 World’s Fair, an event that brought the metropolis across the planet … and allowed people here to learn the culture and culinary arts from elsewhere. Visit the McCord Museum to enjoy the Fashion Expo 67 exhibition, devoted to Canadian fashion at the time, with more than 60 costumes worn by hosts from various pavilions. You will also see photos, archive videos, and sketches.
You can also visit the Quartier des spectacles, from September 18th to September 30th, to attend Expo 67 Live, an event presented on giant screens from archival documents. It is a “real journey in time, unique and innovative”. The entrance is free and four performances will be given each evening.
2. A little music!
Participate in the POP Montreal Music Festival, September 13-17. For a 16th year, this event featuring emerging artists will fill you up during five days devoted to music and art.

3. Read Comics
The Quebec comic strip magazine PLANCHES and the Montreal BD Festival have teamed up to create the Montreal Streets project – urban comic strip stories. No fewer than 13 Montreal cartoonists propose 13 unpublished stories featuring 13 known or unknown places of the metropolis, the first page of which is to be seen on giant panels.
4. Mont-Royal: Avenue gourmand
The dynamic Mont-Royal Avenue puts it for a sixth consecutive year with its Gourmet Avenue, a complete weekend – September 16 and 17 – dedicated to the discovery of flavors. Discover boutiques, delicatessens, cafes, and restaurants that will make you taste their little delights.
5. Attend culinary demonstrations
Omnivore, they are enthusiasts of the terroir who offer culinary demonstrations to the SAT. For this 6th edition, the local 100% is honored on 23 and 24 September.
6. Go to the Impact
Will the Montreal team play the playoffs or not this year? You have two opportunities to see them play in Montreal on Saturday, September 16 against Minnesota United FC and Wednesday, September 27 against New York City FC.
7. Discover Olafur Eliasson
You have until October 8 to visit the MAC (Contemporary Art Museum) to enjoy the first solo exhibition of Olafur Eliasson, ” an internationally renowned artist who applies scientific principles to explore our relationship with time and space “. The artist offers multidisciplinary works that become immersive experiences with the theme of body, movement, self-perception and the environment.
8. Continue to celebrate Montreal’s 375th anniversary
At the beginning of September, there are more than 120 events that you have to see or see again before the end of the year! The neighborhood parties staged by Cirque Éloize take place until September 17th. Several exhibitions/films/presentations welcome the 50th anniversary of Expo 67.
9. Go for a walk at the Lockers Market
Meet at the Vieux-Port for a direct meeting with local producers. We go by the McGill entrance on Thursdays (from 2 pm to 7 pm) and Saturdays (from 9 am to 2 pm). Visit the site to discover the list of producers present according to the chosen date.
10. Enjoy the last Friday of food trucks
Plan on the first Friday of October (the 6th) to attend the very last presence of the forty street kitchen trucks on the Sun Life Financial Esplanade of the Olympic Park. Bouffe, music, entertainment, and atmosphere await you there! You can see trucks like cheese box.
