Signs of Spring to Spot on your Walks

Let’s face it there is not a great deal that we can do in the way of entertainment at the moment. But something that is a great activity and is free is getting your walking maps out and exploring the beautiful British countryside.

One of the things that you can start looking for at this time of the year is the return of the Spring, and nature has lots of clues to let you know that spring is coming back and with it better days. Here are a few of the things that you can look out for…

Snowdrops – These beautiful white flowers are a sure sign that better days are on the way and are usually the first flower that will brave the elements to herald the oncoming spring. They grow from bulbs and appear in early February each year and the sight of the little white snowdrops brings cheer to many people spotting them on their walk!

Bird Life – Now is the time that nature begins to wake up from its winter slumber and one thing that you can see when out and about in the woodlands, fields or even in your own garden is increased bird activity, as they begin to prepare for the busiest time of the year. Birds will start to become more vocal as they compete to attract a mate and you will also notice them gathering items to build their nest ready to rear their young.
