There is something in the raw energy of a waterfall that makes us stop to contemplate the view (and take one, two, or 40 photos). Fortunately, for Canadians in search of waterfalls, there is a multitude of waterfalls that you can admire through this beautiful country.
1. Niagara Falls, Ontario
Obviously, at the top of the list is Canada’s most famous waterfall: the Niagara Falls, Ontario. Although they do not form part of the highest falls (they only measure a humble 50 meters), they compensate with the considerable volume of their impressive waterfalls. 85,000 cubic feet of water per second to be more or less accurate. Climb aboard one of the tour boats at the base of the falls to see them very closely, but expect to come back soaked.
2. Helmcken Falls, BC
Helmcken Falls, 141 meters high, is the fourth highest in Canada, but that is not what you will remember. They pour dramatically over a cliff shaped contour shaped like a bowl, which they carved into the rock, creating a cloud of fine drops before breaking into a second landing. It is a privileged place for waterfalls, thanks to the observation platform perched directly on the edge, offering a view overlooking the eddy.
3. Athabasca Falls, Alberta
With an enormous volume of water pouring over a series of short, staggered falls, the Athabasca Falls are not only a spectacular waterfall as such, but they also offer the breathtaking scenery of the mountains Rocky Mountains of Jasper National Park in a background. Allow space in your camera before you go – you will need it.
4. Shannon Falls, BC
The spectacular Shannon Falls cascades from a relaxing stroll along the Sea to Sky Highway along the coast of British Columbia, making it a great waterfall if you are looking for easy access. If you are ready to continue after a few selfies in front of the falls, know that they are next to the famous Steams hike.

5. Chutes-Montmorency, Quebec
Montmorency Falls, located just a short distance from Quebec City, sweep across an 83-meter-high cliff into the St. Lawrence River. A cable car can take you to the top of the cliff, and a suspended bridge overlooks the falls, so you can admire the show from every angle. Do you feel rash? Take a ride on the 300-meter zipline.
6. Bridal Veil Falls, BC
These falls from a height of 400 feet are as sublime as their name suggests, with water surging on a smooth stone face, giving the impression that it is a veil. Only 16 km from Chilliwack, this is another incredible British Columbia waterfall, and maybe it is just the name, but it has a more romantic side than other falls, Water systems.
7. Albion Falls, Ontario
This small waterfall outside of Hamilton, Ontario is only 19 meters high, but flows elegantly through a series of rocky plateaus, giving it a charming fairytale look. History to complete the scenery of this tale, the fall is located in the scenic King’s Forest Park.
8. Virginia Falls, NWT
If you are determined to add a challenge to your list of waterfalls to see, look at Nailicho, also known as Virginia Falls. They flow through Nahanni National Park in the Northwest Territories, but getting to the falls takes a little more than just a walk. You will need to awaken the explorer in you and hire a seaplane to land you over the falls, before walking up to a majestic viewpoint. There, you will be rewarded for your hike as you enjoy the impressive size of the falls, which divide and tumble around Mason’s pointed stone before breaking hundreds of feet lower.
Canada is full of impressive waterfalls, ranging from small and elegant to torrential. If the mist and sound of water roaring miss you, add some of these waterfalls to your list of things to see in your life.
